TAKE  ME TO HALLOWEEN PARTY

If you go into your wine shop this weekend, there will be tastings on all kinds of wines that have to do with Halloween, ghosts, vampires, pumpkins...everything you can think of. But, are any of them good? Here are three I picked out for you that have my seal of approval. Yes, you want scary, fitting labels, but you should also want the juice to be....devilishly good.

*Do yourself a favor and make sure you wipe your teeth in between glasses, unless you are dressed as a witch or devil. Ladies, no one wants a sexy nurse or angel with red stained teeth!
Pinot Noir
CALIFORNIA

The famous winemaker, Andres Tchelistcheff(1901-1994) said, "God made cabernet sauvignon, whereas the devil made pinot noir."* Oh, yes indeedy. Dracula is made by Vampire Vineyards. No, not made by Vampires...Vampire Vineyards. Blood, in wine? Ga-ross. It is a pinot noir that is a little more on the higher end at around $35 a bottle, but well worth it. It is aged 18 months in French oak barrels making this wine ever so rich and luscious. Try to Count the amount of flavors in this bottle! The most obvious...Pomegranate & Dark Cherry! This is a bloody good wine! (pun INTENDED. I thank you)

Syrah, Zinfandel and Petite Sirah
CALIFORNIA

This label screams vintage, classic, retro Hollywood horror film! I love anything vintage so this is definitely on top of my list for any Halloween bash. These  three varietals combine to make a killer wine(again, pun INTENDED. I thank you). Ripe plums and cherries smack you in the face as Chocolate pleases your buds..as in taste buds, of course. At around $10, the Big Red Monster will make you scream.

Merlot
 CALIFORNIA

This is from Vampire Vineyards, the same vineyards as the first wine, Dracula. For some reason or another, vampires are all the rage right now. Buy this wine and do not feel ashamed for sinking your teeth into this popular vampire bandwagon. For a cutesy-named wine, the juice is pretty darn good to drink all year round! It is a soft/medium bodied merlot, with herbal spices and hint of cherry creeping around the corner. It is aged in oak which gives you tastes of toasty-woasty vanilla on the very long finish. Didn't get around to drinking it? Have your date create a diversion in another room while you sneak this bottle in your coat to take back home with you...because it definitely age-able to keep on the shelf 'til next Halloween. Do yourself a favor and drink it now, it too good not to!

SAFE & HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Please remember to have a designated driver or a cab number handy!
