A Bold Colourful Mediterranean Inspiration

Thursday, June 27, 2013

Patience is a virtue and I have lots of it thank goodness.

My family might disagree with me when I cannot find things as this is my pet hate and my patience usually goes flying out the window at a very fast rate if I cannot find something, I hold my hands up, it is a red flag to a bull!

However I love nothing better and more therapeutic than designing and planning our weddings and events, quietly watching fashion trends and bringing new and fresh styles to my business.  I love a challenge and could not bear to be turning out the same well versed styles time and time again.

I approach each wedding as a new challenging, creative project and love playing around with ideas and thinking out of the box styling for our weddings with suggestions our clients have not thought about.  I prefer to be a leader rather than led and always have which is why I have worked in the design industry now for nearly 30 years, quite an achievement :)

I was thrilled last week, having finally managed to hit the shops, how the Ikat tribal prints were everywhere.

Having foreseen this way back and blogged that this was a new fashion and we would see this in the 2013 and 2014 wedding trends, it was lovely to see that my predictions were spot on and tribal fabrics, bright colours and the ethnic style is now everywhere in the fashion industry which will of course filter into the interior and wedding trends.

Now back to patience, I am patiently waiting for our summer to heat up, we have had a strange year with an unusually chilly May and June and strong winds, not my favourite weather.

I am also now waiting patiently to see images of our fabulous weddings we have created over the past month to share with you.

Patience required again as we are re-branding the business to move it forward, we have reshuffled and I have some fabulous designers now working with me along with enthusiastic fresh talent in the events industry, if I could wave my famous magic wand faster I would but all good things come to those that wait!

So in the meantime as I design and create and inspire myself I thought it would be lovely to share these warm Mediterranean colours with you of a shoot featured on Elizabeth Anne Designs.

We love the warm sunshine colours, the gorgeous tropical florals and the Spanish influences from the use of the crockery to the cute door knobs, which I seem to buy in abundance here from Zara home. I have a drawer full of pretty door knobs and handles, perhaps my other obsession as well as cushions and candles :)!

A Spanish Flag Wedding Colour Inspiration, Passionate Reds and Marigold Yellows

Sunday, April 7, 2013

Tonight I have been playing around with the colours of the Spanish flag using the deep passionate reds combined with the sunny marigold hues and designing ideas on how to translate this colour combo into a wedding as it is really quite a harsh colour scheme but executed properly would be fabulous and we love doing fabulous!

Spain is so evocative of these colours, from their red and yellow flag to the colours of the famous sangria all provides a wonderful Spanish colour scheme to use as a base for your wedding or party.

There are so many fun elements drawn from the Spanish culture that we have incorporated into our previous wedding designs, from the use of the black Osborne bull as a vehicle to create place cards and table seating plans to Spanish lace fans and Sevillian oranges and sunflowers, really the list is endless which is rather exciting as I am constantly drawing on Spanish culture to translate into ideas for our weddings and am spoilt for choice.

Reviva Weddings have not only absorbed the Spanish culture into our weddings but have also now expanded across Spain.

We will be announcing our exciting news this week as we pop up officially in all the major cities around Spain including Barcelona, Madrid and Seville.

Spanish Inspiration Board for Weddings in Spain

Tuesday, March 19, 2013

I shared this fabulous inspiration board yesterday on Reviva´s Facebook page but had to post this gorgeous board from Camille Styles on the Blog too in case any of our readers and followers are not connected to us on Facebook.

For me this gorgeous board has so many Spanish overtones, there is something rather dramatic about it which of course is evocative of our Andalucian flamenco drama that I adore and I love the combination of navy with the reds and dark pinks mixed with golds, it has my design brain ticking!

Do hop over and like our Facebook page we are always sharing fab ideas, inspirations and colour boards.

Mediterranean Olive Wedding Inspirations

Friday, October 19, 2012

I love the colour olive, I am not sure why but it is a colour featured a lot in my own home mixed with whites and a very deep raspberry magenta pink, love it :)

I also love olive trees, I have a miniature olive tree on my terrace which is very pretty, no olives yet but patiently waiting.

I cannot say I am a huge lover of eating olives and even though I watch all my three daughters scoffing them, I am still not convinced but believe me I have tried as I live in olive country!

One of the best ways I have found to enjoy eating olives is to mash them up with garlic, a sort of olive tapenade, which is very yummy particularly if mixed with some salty anchovies.

I had a meeting today which has lead me back to the olive theme for weddings, particularly here in Spain, the land of the olives, it is a lovely theme to incorporate into a Mediterranean wedding.

Whether is it just the colour or taking it further with an olive bar, olive martinis as a signature cocktail or using the olive tree and it´s branches as decorations.

We have blogged about an olive wedding scheme before but it is always lovely to revisit ideas and take a fresh look at colours, ideas and inspirations for weddings.

Most of these gorgeous images are from the amazing Elizabeth Messina and Elizabeth Anne Design, I have just spent a good few hours on Elizabeth Messina´s blog tonight it is truly inspirational and absolutely love her work.

Some of the other images are from our weddings where we have created olive bars and the rest were found on Pinterest so I hope by sharing this colour combo and some ideas we have inspired you.

Lemon Wedding at Zagaleta Casa Club, Spain

Saturday, October 13, 2012

Earlier this year we were contacted by a charming couple who were organising their wedding here at the Zagaleta Casa Club and we were delighted to be hired not only to decorate the wedding with this fabulous zesty lemon theme but also as their planners and coordinators for their day here.

As they live in Dubai they felt they needed someone on the ground here that they could work easily with and that they could trust.

We have not shown actual people here as it was a private family wedding but we are delighted to share some of the fabulous details of this wedding to share and inspire you if you are planning a lemon themed wedding.

The bride is a designer and created some delightful designs for the stationery which really made this wedding fun, from the pretty confetti bags and Order of Service to the rather novel wedding colouring books which I thought were a fabulous idea!

The favours were all lemon themed with lemon sherbets for the girls and lemoncello in cute bottles for the men.  There were a lot of ideas bounced around and the final details that went into this wedding were created by our bride and her sister.

Our piece de resistance at this wedding was our coconut shy which was organised as a surprise for the groom!  I loved creating this, we had the stands made earlier this year by a local ironmonger and as the wedding was a zesty lemon, blues and a soft grey theme I created a grey striped backdrop and decided to use haystacks to create an area to give it more form and create that country fairground feel to it.

Behind it we hung our bare lightbulbs to give even more of a fairground feel and I think the final result was very pretty.   Anoulka, my design assistant extraordinaire even tied lemon and grey ribbons to the coconut posts which finished it off beautifully.

There were certainly no coconuts left the next day or any wooden balls, so can assume a good time was had by all and we do laugh as apparently the local stags and deer had eaten two of the haystacks within 3 days, so I could not return them to the hirers?!  At least we have happy animals unless they were the ones that ate the wooden balls!

The rest of the decor was kept simple as it is such a stunning setting so along with the lemon and ivory bridal bouquets we created table centrepieces using lots of candles in glassware to give more light, zingy yellow florals along with fresh lemons.

Fi created this gorgeous wedding cake, also inspired by our bride and the final result was a stylish and fun day in a glorious setting with perfect Spanish weather.

Our thanks to Anna Gazda for sharing these gorgeous photos with us.

A Wonderful Testimonial received today!

Monday, September 10, 2012

Hi there Laura xx

Hope you're well and everything is getting better after the fires.

It was so devastating to see such a beauty in flames and to know so many homes were destroyed. I hear that the fires have halted now and just hope that people will get help and can rebuild their lives. Its just tragic.

I have been meaning to mail since arrived home on Saturday, my mail seemed to fail in Nerja every time I tried to send a message.

We are still very much floating from the wedding. It was absolutely PERFECT!!!

Everything was just stunning and more beautiful than I could have imagined.

Thank you for all your work and for making my vision come alive. You see things exactly as I do and was so happy with how everything turned out. I truly felt like a princess in a twinkling, sparkling palace.

It could not have been better so thank you so much.

The comments from our guests on all the details was astounding- everyone said it felt magical- even most of the men commented on the backs of chairs!

Felt so proud to make our guests feel special.

The flowers were stunning too, so were the candles, confetti petals, sweetie bags and sweet bar.

The children were in heaven- so was Dannys mum!! Really can't tell you how happy we were- starting to get some of Anna's photo's through and noticing even more details, so excited to see more!!

It really was everything we wanted and more. As the sun went down behind the top table the candles started to twinkle, the fairy lights and glassware sparkled, the colours changed and the ambience was even more amazing.

From the conservatory to outside with the papel picados dancing in the wind, lit by lanterns and fairy lights, it was all beautiful.

This magical feeling is just what I wanted our friends and family to notice- and they did!! We stayed outside until the early hours, with a few singing and playing guitar- I'll never forget it all.

Take care, keep creating!!! Will be in touch soon.
Love Sarah xx
