Wishing you a Glittery Christmas

Thursday, December 20, 2012

As the Christmas weekend approaches, we are sharing some last minute glittery images with you.  This approach to design is so up my street and I am horrified I did not find these gorgeous images beforehand!

I am in love with the wonderful eclectic array of colours and styles, and this is so my house, style and colours, olive greens combined with hot pinks, reds and turquoise and cooled down with whites, greys, silvers and golds, I am in heaven and needless to say if there are glittery cushions, completely sold :)

We would like to take this opportunity to wish all our past clients and friends and our future clients, who we are looking forward to working with in 2013 and 2014, a peaceful and wonderfully sparkly Christmas :)

A Gorgeous Christmas Wedding Photo Shoot from Ireland

Tuesday, December 18, 2012

Here at Reviva we are getting into a very festive mood and are in love with this gorgeous Christmas photo shoot organised and styled by one of my previous and all time favourite brides :)

Claire tied the knot with her gorgeous hubby here in Marbella in 2010 and I was delighted to be hired as her wedding stylist, florist and decorator, we have since become good friends and Claire left Marbella well and truly hooked on wedding world.

Upon Claire´s return to Ireland, as a happily married woman, she set about spending a year training to become a fully qualified wedding planner setting up her dream business, a fabulous wedding and styling company White Sage Events.

With Claire´s attention to details combined with her natural flair for style she really was suited to becoming a wonderful wedding planner and I have enjoyed watching her flourish as she has worked tirelessly to set up her successful business and is now reaping the rewards of working for herself and you can see she is totally devoted to her profession.

Do head over to Claire´s website to have a look at her fabulous work.

I thoroughly enjoyed seeing this Christmassy photo shoot Claire´s company recently put together, it is so festive and beautifully styled, the deep berry Christmas reds combined with the soft greys are a perfect winter wedding palette.  Claire´s attention to detail will ensure you have a wonderful wedding and this photo shoot just reinforces her wonderful sense of style.

We absolutely love it and are rather jealous we do not get many winter style weddings as there are so many wonderful decoration opportunities, but here in Spain all our brides wish to get married in the wonderful Mediterranean sunshine and who can blame them as Spain is known for it´s wonderful climate.

However with the exciting opening of the Marbella Club´s latest venture in the Sierra Nevada, the El Lodge Ski and Spa we are holding out hope now that we may indeed get some beautiful snowy winter style weddings to design, plan and host :)

Imagine hosting your wedding in a wonderfully festive and snowy ski resort near Granada and bringing your guests down to the coast with a 2 hour drive for a beach party the next day!  How different would this be :)

I have done it, skiing all through the day and sitting in Marbella on the beach in my ski wear in the sunshine enjoying a cocktail in the evening, there are not many countries in the world where you can do this!

Claire´s wonderful colleagues involved in this photo shoot were
Claire at White Sage Events Shoot Coordination and Styling White Sage Events
Florist Best of Buds

If you do hire Claire for your wedding planning please do make sure you change your entire colour scheme 10 days before your wedding and email your guest list the night before at 1.30am so she can create your table seating plans, table names and guest placecards ;)!

Shades of Grey for Winter

Tuesday, December 11, 2012

Anyone who knows me well knows I love Shades of Grey.

Not the book as I have not bothered to read it yet, albeit it is on my desk and Carla has already read this and stolen book number two, Fifty Shades Darker for her holidays!

But I love greys combined with silvers, golds or a statement colour.

I wear it all the time in the winter and I decorate my house in it as it such a wonderfully quiet, soft statement colour but so rich and luxurious.

Although my house has a lot of grey, dark grey sofas and a grey marble floor, I throw in vibrant olive greens, crisp whites and hot pinks just to make sure we are not cold and sombre ;)!

I do love this colour combination with the brighter colours  mixed in as after all we do live in the Mediterranean :)

I have put together this mood board of cosy grey winter images as I have many stored here in my favourite file.

The soft colours of mistletoe, silver shoes (could not resist this one) sequins, another love of mine, cosy knits and general loveliness including an image of a very cuddly rabbit!

I so love this rabbit and wish I could have one but sadly allergic to most animals albeit I have two cats and a dog?!

Glamour and Sparkle Wedding Inspiration

Sunday, December 9, 2012

Who does not love a bit of glamour and sparkle, thrown in with a few diamonds of course!

We are busy here working away on ideas and inspirations for our 2013 weddings and gradually compiling mood and colour boards for our clients.

This involves weeks of looking for that one inspiration to set the next train of thought off and scanning hundreds or actually probably thousands of images as we put together designs and ideas.

My problem at the moment as we lead into the festive season is I keep being distracted by glitter and diamonds ;)

One fabulous blog I have found is Zsa Zsa Bellagio, if you are in need of some stylish inspirations or just wish to spend an hour looking at glamorous images this is the place to head over too.  Be prewarned you could be on this blog for much longer than an hour :)!

Swedish Christmas Inspirations

Sunday, November 18, 2012

It is that time of year where I have time to inspire myself as our wedding season comes to an end, Christmas is on it´s way and the rains have arrived in true spanish style, full force bucket fulls of water accompanied with flash floods, thunder, lightening and tornedos!

Days now seem incredibly short and it gets dark early which I find incredibly frustrating but keep telling myself now after 5 weeks the days will start to get longer again.

There seems so much to pack into such a short space of daylight hours at the moment.

But at night, I am lucky to still be sat outside tucked up on my cosy terrace, drinking lots of hot chocs as I spend long evenings looking at ideas, fashions and inspirations.

I do love the Northern European Style.

I sometimes wish I had two houses, one Scandinavian style as well as my Mediterranean style home.

My Mediterranean home, is very Bazaar style, bright colours, white washed walls and flashes of bright colours, mainly olive greens, turquoises and pinks, sometimes perhaps a bit too much pink but I love it, albeit I am at the moment painting my kitchen a fabulous blue so there is a god :)!

My home is a mess of things I have collected over the years that I am constantly trying to assemble into an order.  I am famous for binning things if they do not work so many items from my house have been dumped recently at our local bins as I minesweep our home yet again!  My family get rather worried when I am in this mood!

I have tried the Scandinavian style in my own home when I first moved here with dark grey walls, mixed with whites, gingham and white twigs and I just could not live with it, it was too sombre and just did not lift me at all.

Yet I do love the style, perhaps it is something to do with the light, lifestyle, I am not sure.

When I worked in Display design, I had the most fabulous mentor and boss who was German and she certainly stamped her style on me as we were very good friends and worked together for years, it was not just her style but her lifestyle that shaped me without me realising how much, until now.

Often when I am doing things or cooking some of her recipes handed down to me I can see how much I am like Hannah.  I have been thinking about her a lot this week as I decorate my home and turn out recipe after recipe that she taught me.  There are so many of her influences that I have continued into my adult life and I owe her for many a fabulous recipe, beautiful home and inspiration!

I have an affection for the wonderful simplicity the Northern Europeans have design wise and the fact they still use a lot of natural materials within their homes, styles and designs. I found this gorgeous website from Sweden to share with you Olsson and Jensen and I just love the style and photography along with their beautiful Christmas decorations to inspire you with a Swedish Christmas.

I am afraid I will be sticking to my silvers, vintage glass, shoe and handbag theme which is now mixed along with cupcake baubles in hot pinks ;)!  We are in Marbella after all!

Christmas Styling and Decoration Ideas

Saturday, November 3, 2012

There are 54 sleeps until Christmas and now that Halloween is out the way, I have started thinking and planning for Christmas.

I absolutely love this time of year where there are so many amazing creative people starting to blog very magical, twinkling images inspiring us all to decorate our homes beautifully and enjoy what is a very pretty and festive occasion, it can never come around quickly enough for me!

In fact the reason I trained as a window dresser was because as a small child I absolutely loved the magic of the Christmas displays in London in Selfridges, Harrods and Hamleys and by the age of 20 I was a fully fledged display designer creating them!

Torie Jayne is one of my favorite designers that I follow as I love her work and the clean crisp style she adopts and I was immediately entranced tonight by these beautiful Christmas images she shared from Lisabeth Dahl

So as Christmas approaches and the land of creative blogging becomes magical and wondrous I will share many inspirations with you from my rather fabulous reading list :)

Pink and Gold Christmas Inspiration

Pink and Golds are definitely the in Christmas colour this year and are all over blog world.

I love them as these are the colours I have every year and mine are mixed with silvers and lots of crystal too collected over the years. I also use olive green as it is the other colour in my home but this year I am excited about using a touch of purple and deep turquoise too with lots of golds to bring a slightly grander feeling to our Christmas table. I have the crackers already and bought some beautiful olive charger plates and now on a search for a deep magenta velvet ribbon!

I thought with all these fabulous images I have found it would be lovely to create an inspiration board to share with you.

You really must head over to the Citrus and Orange blogspot, it is one of my favourite blogs and I can´t wait to see what Susana will be posting next as she shares her Christmas decoration ideas with us.

We also have some beautiful Christmas trees to share with you this week, sent in by our brides from the past few years and some of our brides for 2012 as we all get festive and share our creative ideas together!

Christmas Week

Thursday, December 23, 2010

This time of year is a time for reflection, enjoying family and friends and thinking about achievements, what we can do better to improve ourselves and preparing for another year.

For me starting my own business has been the most rewarding thing I have ever done (apart from having my three beautiful daughters of course!).
Creating a dream and making it a reality is the most satisfying feeling and I am so passionate about what I do that working is enjoyable for me, it does not feel like work, it is a hobby and a lifestyle, which I think is hugely important to create a successful business as you eat, live, breath and sleep it!

Everyone has a story and mine is no different and I did lose faith in having friends, but what I have realised over the past year in particular, is the lifestyle I have created for myself has introduced me to some wonderful people, and now I realise I have created a network of friends that I value enormously.
I thought I would share some of my days with you now to see what we get up to when we are not busy creating our wonderful weddings and parties.

Today I spent a morning surfing some fabulous blogs, gaining inspirations and ideas for next year's weddings. I then popped down to the shop this afternoon to see Loraine and Anoulka so I decided to take my camera with me and take some photos. Here are some photos of the shop in it's full Christmas glory and Loraine and Anoulka working hard creating fabulous Christmas bouquets, arrangements and decorations, I am the lazy one sitting on a chair with a coffee :)

I have also taken a photo below of my beautiful Christmas chocolate cake delivered to me a few days ago by Fi, our crazy and hugely talented cake maker, she has created a birdcage for me which I love and don't really want to eat but I will succumb shortly!

I then popped round to see Heather, the owner of Fiestasol, for a cup of tea and homemade biscuits at her lovely cosy home as she was housebound with her beautifully cuddly children and I wanted to deliver a Christmas card and also took her a lovely festive bouquet from the shop for her to enjoy.

Sometimes a working mum's life can be hard so I always think that the mum's need to be spoilt for once! Although of course Heather is very lucky to be married to a superb chef who has taken over the kitchen for Christmas with huge enthusiasm whilst I am still checking off my to do shopping lists!!
All I can say is if anyone out there is considering starting up their own business, just go for it, you have to be passionate about what you do and be prepared to work hours that no one else would even consider but it is so rewarding to create a lifestyle and meet hugely talented and interesting people that otherwise you would never have crossed paths with.
