The Historic Rice Mill Building & Good Food Catering ~ Charleston, SC

The Historic Rice Mill Building was built in 1861 and is the last of Charleston's three original antebellum rice mills to still stand. The venue boasts unparalleled waterfront views of the Ashely River, features versatile indoor and outdoor space, and is perfectly appointed with classic design features, like exposed brick, wide plank wood floors, large double windows and a pressed-tin ceiling.

The Historic Rice Mill Building is also the exclusive venue to Good Food Catering, a full service catering and event management service established by Holy City Hospitality group and the creators of restaurants 39 Rue de Jean, Coast Bar and Grill, and Virginia’s on King.

Good Food Catering truly believes that you should be a guest at your own event, and they base their service around this idea. From your first meeting to your wedding day, they strive to understand and present your vision through both presentation and taste, ensuring that attention is paid to every detail, and that each and every element, from the food to the table settings, fits with your vision. Perfection is in the details, after all!

With nearly a decade of experience, every individual involved in the planning and execution of your wedding possesses the skills and knowledge to handle the details of your day successfully and professionally. Their Catering Managers bring enthusiasm and expertise to every wedding they execute, striving to go above and beyond by assisting in any way they can. They are dedicated to designing imaginative and creative cuisine that will fit your budget, theme, and taste.

Whether it is at the Rice Mill or at one of the many Charleston venues they work with regularly, including Boone Hall, The Old Exchange Building, Founders Hall, and many more, Good Food catering has the added benefit of being able to offer couples their favorite dishes from our sister restaurants, along with inspired creations straight from their Chef, such as Brown Sugar Glazed Bacon Wrapped Sweet Potatoes and Smoked Salmon Cornet with Capers, Onions, and Crème Fraiche.

Pressed Cotton ~ Goods for Gatherings

Thursday, February 14, 2013
It's Valentine's Day and naturally, we want to profess our love. We're totally and completely in love with Pressed Cotton, the new online store created by some great friends of ours, and we'd like nothing more than to share it with you.

From the moment we clicked our way to the Pressed Cotton site, we could feel our little hearts fluttering. From paper goods and signage to ring bearer pillows, table runners, a variety of pretty vessels and more, we knew we'd found a gold mine of gorgeous wedding goodness.

Pressed Cottton is the brainchild of Jennifer Rose of Salt Harbor Designs and Millie Holloman of Millie Holloman Photography, who met working on events in Wilmington, NC and have been joining creative forces ever since. Last year they decided to collaborate on Pressed Cotton, an online store containing “goods for gatherings,” and brought in Brent Holloman of Brent Holloman Designs to handle graphic design, branding, and website design.

Pressed Cotton is a source for brides, planners and anyone who loves paper, fabric, texture, color and above all, well-styled events. The creators of Pressed Cotton believe that the atmosphere of an event lies in the details and that an excellent hostess considers details thoughtfully with guests in mind. They also believe that it's cool to think of your home when choosing goods for your wedding and many selections from Pressed Cotton can be beautifully repurposed as exquisite details and accents for your home decor. That being said, Pressed Cotton is a brilliant source for all things wedding, but also a source of creative ideas for your home and we like that. In fact, we've got our eyes on a few items for ourselves. Some of our favorites are the Recipe Card Kit, the cool Blueprint Placemats, the lovely I Promise Pillow Set and the fantastic United States Canvas.

The online store is still new, but there's already more good stuff in the works. The company is working on new projects, including a blog with various uses and ideas for Pressed Cotton products and a line of unique and custom wedding favors. Keep your eyes open and check back often for new additions to Pressed Cotton. You'll find inspiration every time you visit!!

We love the colorful, layered look of this pretty inspiration shoot sent to us by our friends at Gayle Brooker Photography, styled by Easton Events and shot at the William Aiken House in Charleston, SC.

The location itself is oozing with charm but when paired with lovely florals, textured linens, colorful china and delicate details, it's downright sweet. Enjoy!
