The Dragon Lady

Friday, June 21, 2013
Hey there Friday. Nice of you to join us!

I have to introduce you guys to someone.  She is the best weimy ball there ever was!
My adopted daughter and my main bitch.

Dakota, Dak, Dak Dak, Big Dog.
She answers to them all.
This girl just turned seven years old!  That is forty nine in dog years!
She is no longer a youthful pup, but becoming a ornery old woman.
SamIam picked her cute butt out of a litter of eight the summer before his Junior year of college.
on the way home!
This was before we were a "we".  Just look at these precious pics I found!
Sam practicing for future ponytails...
She still wears that same tag today.
Her sisters using her as a pillow.
Daddy's Copilot
Dakota and I bonded immediately when Sam and I first started dating.
I think it is probably because we are both cuddle whores.  We now share the same side of the bed.
Yep, I share my side of the bed with 85 pounds of love!
And she worked hard for every single one of those lbs!  Let me tell ya!
                                                             Dakota has an eating disorder.
She binges if not closely watched.
Girl has got some mad problem solving skills though!
Her main problem: How can I get more food?
We make both dogs sit and wait while we put their food in their bowls and then tell them to "go!"
Dak will inhale hers as fast as she can and then go hover by Riley, waiting for him to left his head so she can nudge him out of the way.  Well we caught on to this pretty quickly and started watching them while they ate.  She had finally earned our trust back...until last weekend.
Lately...she has gotten smart.  Too smart.
She almost had us too.

Here's how she does it.
She will gobble her food up as fast as she can.
Then nonchalantly walk into the living room acting like she is being so well behaved.
Then she will bark like someone is at the front door.
Guard dog to the rescue!  Here comes Riley to back her up!
While Riley is distracted checking out the front door Dakota will saunter back into the kitchen and finish off his food.  By the time he gets back to his bowl it is completely empty and she is walking away really pleased with herself.
Dinner time is now supervised.
Yeah. That looks like a malnourished dog.

Days are getting warmer...FINALLY!

Man! Yesterday was rough!  That Tuesday was totally a Monday in disguise.  But hey! At least today is Humpity hump day! We are almost to another weekend!

How is that whenever you come back from a weekend vacation you wake up the next morning completely exhausted??  The whole point of the weekend away was to relax and you end up being completely wiped by the time you get home.  Does not make any sense.

Our entire slough at the lake now knows the names of both of my dogs because we were calling yelling at them all weekend.

Riley learned how to swim!  AND he is an even better swimmer than Dakota!

Proud Mommy moment!  I didn't even have to get in with him to teach him!  He followed Dakota down the boat ramp and all of a sudden he could no longer touch.  And awhat do ya know?! He was swimming! I thought for sure I was going to have to save him at least once, but nope!  Just a swimmin' like an otter!  I guess all of that running he does in the backyard has really built up his endurance because I had to force him to get out of the water.  He was swimming in circles all day and if he saw a duck he was after it!   He swims faster than the ducks too! The only reason he never caught one was because they would fly out of the water!  SamIam had to go and get him on the Seadoo from out in the middle of the slough at one point because he was after those ducks tails and would not turn back!

"Wait for me guys!"
Gotta get those ducks!

Those are some tired babies!

Before I went to the lake this past weekend I attended a going away party for a sweet friend.
She will be moving to South Africa for the next eight months to do mission work.
You guys really should go check out her first post about her journey to get to the journey!

Her mom had the cutest cake made!
There is a little plane flying from the US to South Africa.

Rach you are going to be amazing!!!

Sunburn Shenanigans

Monday, April 15, 2013
Tax Day wooo!! My email blew up this morning with "deals" and "discounts" all screaming
"Come spend your tax return here!"
Well good thing I waited until the last minute and filed it this morning *high fives self*!
I will NOT succumb to the pressure!Even though there is a really cute dress at Target I have been eyeing.

My Friday night was just wild!
I guess my head looked like a pillow?

Apparently, I am really trying to get skin cancer this year.
I am 0-2 in the sunburn department so far and once again the majority is on the right side of my body. Just great.

I just get so excited about it being pretty out that I over estimate my pasteyness.

My Cherokee lineage failed me again on Saturday.
I did wear sunscreen.
And yes I reapplied.
I think it must have been older than I thought and thus not as effective.

A little backyard sittin' and champagne sippin'....ALWAYS a good time!
Molly accepting her pasteyness.
Big Dog just being herself. Having a girls day.

And then we tried to get pretty for the engagement party... I think we did alright.

and after a few several glasses of wine I forgot how to smile for pictures.

Just look at that burn line!
Man I am attractive.

Sunday consisted of a rainy hangover recovery, watching Bar Rescue (we are addicted), laundry, and some unhealthy eating.  It was perfect!

I forgot my gym bag this morning when I left the house, so hopefully Jillian Michaels can motivate me to spend some qt with her instead and get our yoga on.

Have a fabulous week!

Easter egg hunting at 23.

Tuesday, April 2, 2013
I hope that everyone had a lovely Easter with their fam's! Mine was interesting. As is any gathering with my family.  This little toasted marshmallow's kisses (and the new work appropiate outfit my mother gave me instead of candy *thumbs up*)totally made the four and half hours I spent in the car yesterday worth it.

Not a Easter bunny! A pet bunny for life.
So, let me just preface this bratty post by telling you that since I was 15 every Easter I have gotten either a box/bag of Jelly Bellys with a one hundred dollar bill stapled to it from my grandparents.  That hundred bucks was always nice to have right after Spring Break!

Not this year.

Sam and I arrive at my Nana and Papa's for lunch to find out that all of the "big" kids were going to be having our own egg hunt this year and then have to draw for our prize.  Alright fine.

It comes time for our hunt. Sam and I (in our church clothes mind you) are waiting outside for everyone when they start trickling out of the house...in workout clothes. Shit just got real serious. Well, I guess I will take off my heels then. One of my Aunts says go and they all take of running like lunatics.  I start over on the right side of the yard looking for those stupid little eggs. I find two.  I walk over to another island in the yard and start looking when the same Aunt decides to yell "I see three over here!" Referring to where I am currently looking. Awesome. Screw this.

I walk over to my mother and told her that I am done. She told me that she was surprised that I had participated at all. Good. Glad I did my part.  Sam was a much better sport about it than I was, even though I forced him into it.  So that happened and Sam found a whole five dollars! Whoop whoop!

I realize that presents and eggs are not what Easter is about at all.  It was really just one of those things though.  You get used to things being a certain way and when it changes you don't like it.

Plus, this guy might have something do with my feelings towards the egg business.

Last week was crazy busy and fun. So here is a little recap.

I spent far too much money on this hot little number. Only to find out it is back ordered.

Ella Moss.  Here.

I decided to hangout with preteens and go see Marron 5 move like Jagger (imposible btw). It was worth it.  Although, none of their parents seemed too excited we were there.  We may have been slightly intoxicated.
Which resulted in some poor eating habits.  Not ashamed.  Taco Bell saved me from a hangover.
I love eating sushi here! Even though the inside still looks like an O'Charley's ten years later.

And I will leave you with Dakota cuddling my new prize (which Riley has now eaten) from the Easter Egg Hunt.
